In 1925, the children of a small town in Alaska were dying. A diphtheria outbreak threatened Nome and its surrounding towns, and the local doctor was desperate for an antitoxin. The problem was, it was January in Alaska, and the land was locked in winter’s deadly, frozen grasp.
