With all the snow that has piled up at the top of New Hampshire, it’s a bit like going back in time, when winters were long and snowy, a gallon of gas was dimes on the dollar and there was a new-fangled machine roaring through the woods.
Snowmobiling over the past 40 years has come a long way, but tomorrow, your father’s and grandfather’s sleds are coming out of barns and sheds for a little zip through time.
The Great North Woods Snowmobile Race, the first of two vintage sled races that will be held in the far north this winter, gets under way at 10 a.m. tomorrow, featuring the forerunners of today’s snowmobiles, built before 1973.
