Seven more mushers on Monday arrived at the Bethel finish of the 29th annual Kuskokwim 300 sled dog race, bringing the total number to 13. Mitch Seavey won Sunday night and pocketed the $20,000 first prize.
Among the other finishers, Rohn Buser edged his dad, former Iditarod champion Martin Buser, for fifth place in the prestigious 308-mile race. The 18-year-old beat his Hall-of-Fame pop by just nine minutes despite owning nearly a three-hour lead over him at the next-to-last checkpoint.
Paul Gebhardt arrived in Bethel at 1:43 a.m. to claim seventh, followed by Jeff King at 4:34 a.m., Sebastian Schnuelle at 4:58 a.m. and Dave Decaro at 5:20 a.m. to round out the top 10.
Six more mushers remained on the trail as of 9 p.m. Monday.
In other races, Pete Kaiser won the Bogus Creek 150 and Ryan Housler claimed the Akiak Dash.
