Two Fairbanks-area mushers are neck-and-neck heading into the final stretch of the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race.

Lance Mackey, the defending champion, arrived in Braeburn at 5:53 a.m. Monday. Braeburn is the final checkpoint before the race’s finish in Whitehorse, Yukon.

But Mackey has only a 20 minute lead over Ken Anderson. The earliest Mackey can leave Braeburn for Whitehorse is 1:53 p.m. Monday. Anderson can’t leave until 2:12 p.m.
