Fans Allowed To Ride With Dogs In Iditarod

An auction has been set up to allow fans to ride with mushers and dogs in the Iditarod.

Husky NewsThe auction is going to allow six amputees in the Army, Marines, and Air Force the chance to ride with mushers in the Iditarod, the annual March event which takes place in Anchorage.

There are many injuried men and women serving the armed forces of the United States who could have had the chance to be Iditarod riders, and this is their chance.

Organizers of the 1,100 mile race are donating six slots in the auction. Winning bidders are allowed to ride 11 miles with their favorite Iditarod mushers.

Stan Hooley, executive director of the Iditarod Trail Committee stated “It’s exciting and we’re just pleased to be able to honor and recognize these folks.”

People bid thousands of dollars each year to for the chance to take part and ride in the snow-covered streets and trails in Alaska.
