Dunham leads Copper Basin 300 mushers

Gabrielle Dunham of Valdez left the Chistochina checkpoint at 6:44 p.m., Saturday to lead the Copper Basin 300, which started in Glennallen.

Defending champion Allen Moore arrived into the checkpoint, just 58 miles into the 300-mile race, at 8:45 p.m., 13 spots behind the leader.

Two-time Copper Basin champion Lance Mackey sat seven positions behind Dunham. Last year’s Iditarod and Yukon Quest champion departed Chistochina at 7:44 p.m.
