Trent Herbst of Ketchum, Idaho, and Jeremie Matrishon of Whitehorse, Yukon, withdrew from the Quest in the past week, leaving 27 mushers still entered.
Herbst, who is still signed up for the 2008 Iditarod, cited “logistics and time constraints†as the reason for withdrawal on his Quest profile. Matrishon, 33, cited “not enough training time.â€
In addition, rookie Michael Mayer of Fairbanks to needs to complete his qualification requirements of finishing one sanctioned 300-mile race and another race of at least 200 miles.
Twenty-eight mushers started the 2007 race, with 21 finishing.
