Three-time Yukon Quest champion Hans Gatt captured the Cantwell Classic sled dog race late Saturday night.

Although his exact finish time and total elapsed times were not available Sunday evening, Gatt led a field of 32 teams across the finish line.

Five women chased Gatt across the finish line as Debbie Moderow captured second place, followed by Jessie Royer in third place, Michelle Phillips in fourth, Judy Currier in fifth and Jennifer Kemper in sixth.

Rounding out the top 10 finishers in the 200-mile race from Cantwell to MacLaren Lodge and back Clint Warnke in seventh, Rohn Buser in eighth, Aaron Burmeister in ninth and John Stewart in 10th.

Four-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser placed 12th and former Yukon Quest champion Ramy Brooks was 16th.

All of the finishers were honored at a potluck banquet Sunday afternoon in the Cantwell school gymnasium where musher Emmitt Peters was feted for his many accomplishments during his years of racing.
