Being sick and in a hospital can be stressful and depressing, a feeling that is even more intense during the holiday season. But animal-loving patients at New Milford Hospital had a spot of brightness Christmas day when Marydale DeBor and her little dachshund, Ticho, came into view. Ticho was decked out for the season with reindeer antlers, and, while she might have been a bit short for the role of locomotion for Santa’s sleigh, she definitely helped bring Christmas cheer to the patients. Organizers of the first annual Flathead Sled Dog Days shifted their race venue from Olney to the head of Whitefish Lake due to plowing on the Olney Crossover Road. At this time last year, Robin Oberton should have been gearing up for her first-ever dog sled competition. She should have been bundling up in her Mukluks, fox-skin hat and full-body purple snowsuit at least three nights a week to run her six-dog team out on the local trails. Sometime between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, burglars broke into a 29-year-old Michigan City man’s house and stole an Xbox 360, a Camcorder, a 9 mm Ruger handgun, a Glock 9 mm handgun and eight rounds of ammunition.
