It was a madhouse of barks, yipes and whimpers as more than 150 dogs waited not so patiently for the start of the first Alaska K-9 Cutie Pageant on Saturday in the Petzoo/Animal Food Warehouse parking lot. Local celebrities Jackie Purcell, Cary Carrigan and Kris Kuyper sat at the judges' tables in front of small slates. They clutched markers and wondered where the heck DeeDee Jonrowe was; she showed up late, halfway through the first category.
